Touchdown Treats

Somehow I've become the official Game Day Treat Maker Extraordinaire for Michael and his football coach buddies. I've made brownies, cookies, bar cookies, and cupcakes for them throughout the season. Cupcakes seem to rule the locker room, tho. They've been requested more than anything else.

My dear husband put in a very specific request for tonight's first game of the playoffs. He searched the internet on his own and came up with this:

If you go to the website, there's even a video. Michael watched the video and explained to me how to make them. Cute.

Here's how mine turned out:

I think we'll call this one a success for the most part.  (I'm a perfectionist! Shocker, I know) I think they looked better before I put the flags on.  Oh well.  The crowd they're for is not too picky.  I'm sure they will be gobbled right up!  :)

One down, One to go

I'm happy to report that Michael started his new job today. Hooray! Now I just need to find something more permanent and we'll be good to go. One down, one to go.

Now that the JV football season is over Michael doesn't need to be at practice every day - only on Fridays for the Varsity games. We wanted to take a very quick trip and get away for a few (brief) hours before he started his new job.

Thursday morning we hopped in the car and set off for Lake Havasu City to see the London Bridge (I am that dorky). It is the most popular thing to see in Arizona after the Grand Canyon, you know. We came, we saw, we took our pictures and left. Not much going on in Lake Havasu City in November, even with the 80+ degree temps.

After all the excitement at the London Bridge, we continued on our journey to Laughlin, NV. Laughlin is just across the Colorado River from Bullhead City, AZ, and a hop, skip, and jump away from Needles, CA. It's home to a few big casinos and inexpensive hotels and surrounded by a whole lot of desert.

We spent the night in Laughlin and Friday morning got back in the car and headed for home. We took another route back and spent most of the drive admiring the wide open spaces, rocks, and cacti.

We made it home safe and sound late Friday afternoon just in time to get to Michael's football game. Go Toros!
